New "AutoSize" Option

1. Allows you to select up to 100 GB of data from your Backup Set tab.
2. After 7 business days, we review your selection amount, adjust your account to the smallest account size to accommodate your current selection, and email you.
3. Or, email us at any time during the trial with your account number and the account size of your choice.

Account capacity based on selected data

Capacity for Remote Data Backups accounts is based on the total size of files currently selected for backup.

1. All the older file versions stored at our data centers (up to 10 versions or last 30 days)
   are NOT counted against your total.
2. For example, if you select one folder containing 9 GB, then you are under the limit for a 10 GB account. This makes it easy for end-users to calculate and predict.
3. View your capacity and limit on the RDB software Backup screen.
4. We email you if your account exceeds 95% capacity, but don't we upgrade without your consent.
5. Account for growth of new and existing files. If in doubt, overestimate for your trial size.
6. You can always submit a Plan Change request.
   We update your account within a business day and (prorate your bill if it's a paid account).

Estimating the size you need

1. Be sure to select all your mission-critical data files.

2. Add up the size of the files you want to back up. Right click each directory and select Properties and view the Size (in MB or GB). Typically, many important files are stored in your My Documents directory.
3. At any time you can easily deselect from your Backup Set any files you're sure you don't need backed up. For simple instructions on how to select/deselect files, click here.

Check your C: drive used space

1. Right click your "My Computer" desktop icon, then select Explore.
2. Right click "Local Drive (C)" , and click Properties. Used space is displayed in Gigabytes (GB).
3. Some files types are excluded from your backup set by default: media (.mp3, .wav, .avi, etc.), such as your temporary files, Recycle Bin, system cache, etc., so your amount of data to potentially back up is less than your total used space.
4. You can run deselect files from a full system backup; just be careful not to deslect any system files that may be critical to you.

Other helpful hints

1. If you use Outlook, your email data file (*.pst) can be quite large (often over 250 MB), in part because it includes all attachments sent and received.
2. To find out which Operating System (OS) you are running, right click the "My Computer" desktop icon. Your OS is listed on the General tab under System:
3. Our most popular plans are 4 GB and 10 GB.
4. 1000 MB (megabytes) equals 1 GB (gigabyte), so the 4 GB account is 16 times the capacity of the 250 MB for just $10 more a month.
